This is the moment an ‘Eastern European’ gang of ‘smirking’ women snatch £4,000 of wedding dresses from a bridal shop in a daylight brazen shoplifting.
Shocking CCTV footage shows the four women entered Brides In The City on St George’s Road in and began browsing the racks before throwing several of the dresses under their arms and fleeing out the door without paying.
One was seen gesturing to the others to stay quiet by placing her finger to her lips.
The group appeared to be laughing among themselves before grabbing two wedding gowns and bolting out of the shop.
Footage shows a woman running down the street clutching the dress which billows out around her.
After being chased down by furious staff and a passerby, the women dropped the dresses but police are still hunting the group who quickly ran away.
Caitlin, the store supervisor who clawed back the dresses told the Daily Mail: ‘It was very distressing, I didn’t expect it at all especially because they seemed so nice when they came in.
‘We’d never heard of them before or any other thefts in the area, so we had no idea who they were. They were definitely Eastern European.

‘It was actuallymyself that went after them, I don’t know what made me do it I guess It was just instinct. We’re a small business and I’m really close to the owner so it felt personal to me.’
She added there was no damage to the dresses, and she celebrated their recovery over a cocktail with her boss.
Reports say the women are part of a group of retail thieves operating across Scotland with alleged thefts occurring in Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, Falkirk and Stranraer.
Staff at Brides in the City shared the footage on social media, adding: ‘These four young women walked into our store today at 2:26pm and decided to leave with two wedding dresses that they hadn’t paid for.
‘We’re posting this in the hopes that our wonderful brides, family & friends will share this and maybe we can find out who they are or if they are known to other stores in the City Centre.
‘They were extremely sneaky when they entered the store and you can actually see one of them ‘shhh’ the others which shows they definitely all knew what their intentions were when entering the store.
‘One of our staff members managed to follow these girls and retrieve the dresses with the help of another member of the public standing in the way of the girls who had the dresses.
‘We would love to find this individual to pass on our sincere thanks but in the chaos of the moment, didn’t manage to get his information.’
